The Countdown Begins!

Meg is pregnant!

First Response says Meg is Pregnant!
E.P.T confirms that Meg is Pregnant!

It has been confirmed my multiple pregnancy tests, multiple brands of pregnancy tests, and now also by a doctor that Meg is in fact pregnant. Meg and I are expecting our first child to be born on December 21st. She is now 9.5 weeks pregnant and doing well. Hunger has increased a little bit, as well as sleepiness. Bathroom breaks have increased steadily (especially at night), but as I read, this is all normal and good things. We had our first doctors appointment a about 2 weeks ago. Everything went well. The appointment was mostly informational. We got loaded up on books, and pamphlets, and handouts. Right now it is all very exciting and new. Her ten week pregnancy visit is coming up soon. If I am understanding everything correctly, we should be able to hear the first fetal heart tones at this appointment. How exciting!

We will be updating this blog periodically as we go through some of these new experiences and learn all kinds of new and wonderful news. So stay tuned!

Our first onesie!
On another side note, Meg and I have met with a mortgage lender and we have gotten a priority buyer letter. We are now one step closer to buying a house. We have got a nice long list of houses to dwindle down so we can go preview some homes. If you have any suggestions on realtors, good neighborhoods, or even good websites to search for homes, please feel free to leave some comments below.

The Backstory...

Jeremy and Meggan Christmas 2011
For the first post of our new blog, I figured I would give a quick backstory on the last ten years of our lives. I first met Meggan Potocek sometime in the fall of 2002. Meggan was in her third year at St. Cloud State and I had just begun my first year. We both belonged to the Christian student organization Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU). Honestly, I do not remember the exact first time I met Meg, but my first memory of her came after eating lunch at Garvey Commons. Many of the students who belonged to CRU had lunch everyday at Garvey at a big table in the back. One day, Meg stopped me as I was leaving to go to work in the basement of Brown Hall and Meg asked if I would like to walk with her (she worked in the adjacent Science building). I remember thinking how nice it was that she wanted to walk with me. From that day forward, almost every day after lunch, we would walk to work together. By the spring of 2004, Meg and I had started having lunch at least once a week away from all of our other friends in the basement of Atwood and would frequently spend additional time getting to know one another. My courting of Meg had officially begun! In the fall of 2004, at the start of my third year at SCSU, I officially asked Meg to be my girlfriend one night in Munsinger Gardens. We had our first "official" date at a CRU sponsored barn dance.

Over a year later in November of 2005, I asked Meg to marry me. She said yes! Meg then graduated from SCSU with her bachelors degree in Chemistry in May of 2006. We then got married in Illinois on July 1st, 2006. It was a wonderful day and one neither one of us will ever forget.

I still had one semester to finish at St. Cloud State. In December of 2006, I graduated with a bachelors degree in Education. Meg had been accepted to graduate school at the University of Memphis to pursue a doctoral degree. In January 2011, we left all our friends and family behind and moved to Memphis, TN. After a bit of a rough start and some tough months working as a substitute in the Memphis City Schools, I got a position as a 7th and 8th grade history instructor at a very nice private school. In the summer of 2008 I began my pursuit of my masters degree in Instruction and Curriculum leadership at the University of Memphis. I finished my degree in May of 2010.

Meg finished all of her coursework and received her masters degree in August 2010. Meg then finished her research in July 2011. With Meg's coursework and research finished we moved back up to Minnesota. I began my work at a school software company and Meg began working for a medical imaging company. Meg defended her dissertation and officially became Dr. Meggan Larson in March 2012 and graduated with her doctoral degree from the University of Memphis in May.

In April of 2011 we found out that Meg was pregnant with our first child. We are both very excited for this new adventure in our lives!
